County of Orange Announces 2021 Redistricting Public Workshops
Every ten years, local governments use new census data to redraw their district lines to reflect how local populations have changed. Assembly Bill 849 (2019) requires cities and counties to engage communities in the redistricting process by holding public hearings and/or workshops and doing public outreach, including to non-English-speaking communities.
The County of Orange will hold five redistricting workshops across Orange County in August. Each workshop will include a brief presentation on the County’s 2021 redistricting process and an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on redistricting, including providing input on communities of interest. Free parking is available at all workshop locations. Information on virtual participation will be available on www.ocgov.com/redistricting.
