First Business Networking Luncheon of 2012

Tuesday January 24th marked the first Business Networking Luncheon for the Tustin Chamber in 2012. We restarted our popular networking/learning luncheon format with a bang at the El Torito restaurant on 17th Street in Tustin. Our featured speaker was Dave Linden the man who puts on Orange County’s Greatest Mixer at the Fairgrounds every March. We had a great turnout with 30 people showing up to learn a little about networking during their lunch hour. The buffet put on by El Torito was scrumptious and there was a drawing for door prizes. Legislative Action Committee Reformed: Bethelwel Wilson Esquire presiding

If you own a business you should be aware of what our Legislative Action committee does. The committee’s charter is to examine pending legislation that may affect business in Tustin and to apply the Chambers position statements to determine if the new laws meet our qualifications. If the law makes sense and matches our position then the Board of Directors of the Chamber publishes a letter of support. We forward our letter of support to the appropriate state legislators, city government officials, county officials and the press. If the law does not conform to our position then it is our civic duty to oppose it. This is not an easy process as the California State legislature has been a fountainhead of new laws for many years. Most of the laws passed have a cost and many require debt. We contend that most are unneccessary and should be voted down.

If you have an interest in providing your expertise and input to our process, your participation will matter. Please let Bethelwel know and attend our upcoming Government Affairs Council meetings (to be announced). The active season for the state legislature is right around the corner so there is lots to do now.

Christmas Breakfast With the Foothill Dicken’s Carolers

We pumped up the Holiday Season with our traditional Holiday Breakfast. On December 14th we hosted the Foothill High School Dicken’s Carolers for a festive meal. As traditional at our Holiday Breakfast we finished it with the singing of the 12 Days of Christmas by table with each table making their own lyrics . . . . always a lot of fun. Chistmas Mixer With Santa Ana and Irvine Chambers

Assemblyman Don Wagner attended our first joint Christmas Holiday Mixer at the Tustin Banquet Center. TheBanquet Center was beautifull decorated and they put on quite a feast and the Irvine, Santa Ana, Stanton and Tustin Chambers were represented. Santa arrived (former Tustin Mayor Chuck Puckett) to help kick off the holiday season. Everyone had a great time! Check out the pics below to see some of the people who attended.

St. Patrick may have chased the snakes out of Ireland but they are lurking in Tustin and waiting for a chance to slither through the District!
