Goodwill Boutique has Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting!

We had an early lively crowd of over 500 shoppers here in Tustin with the Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new OC Goodwill Boutique which opened its doors at 9:00 am to the public.

Goodwill has been in OrangeCounty for 90 years helping people facing barriers with job training and finding employment. This store is large and spacious and carries items that could compete with the best of boutiques because it carries great deals on designer brands. You will have to see it to believe it.

The Goodwill was represented well by Kim Seebach, COO, Steve Coyne, Board Chair, Sergio Munoz, Regional Director, Henry Newton, Mission Integration Specialist, Antonio Rocha, Store Manager and Doug Wooley, Community Relations Director.

In attendance were Mayor Pro Tem, Chuck Puckett, City Councilwoman, Becky Gomez, City Manager, Jeff Parker and many Tustin Chamber Board Members. Also, in attendance to welcome the new store were, Joe Sturges from Assemblyman Don Wagner’s office, Greg Burt from Senator Mimi Walter’s Office, and Chris Nguyen OC Supervisor Todd Spitzer’s Office

5 Year Celebration for EmbroidMe

Our very own Chairman, Jonathan Stone, had a great celebration for his company, EmbroidMe, last month. This was his 5 Year Anniversary which was held at his new larger facility. Many chamber members, business associates, legislators, family and friends attended and enjoyed some great food and company.

We love Boston. Home of the Patriots! Boston Harbor, Paul Revere, Harvard, MIT, the Kennedy Library and so much more! They picked the wrong people when they tried to terrorize you! Don’t they know you will NEVER back down, you will NEVER be intimidated and your freedom trail will continue to be a beacon to people from all over the world! While we grieve for the fallen and wounded we know you will perservere and continue in your tradition as one of the greatest cities in the world. I can’t wait to visit there again and enjoy the fine food and great atmosphere of a truly free intellectual capitol of mankind.

DCH Tustin Acura 27th Anniversary

Dick Hsu and our friends at DCH Tustin Acura have done it again! Every year they not only have a great celebration of their continuing good fortune but provide a fund raising function for SADD. SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) is a non-profit organization run by students to get the word out about preventing teen driving under the influence of alchohol or drugs by making good decisions. Dick and DCH have been benefactors for the group for several years. DCH held a Silent Auction that raised over Six thousands dollars for the cause! At the same time that all the guests celebrated the anniversary DCH showed off it’s newest car the 2104 RLX (see pictures below).

Lot’s of Tustin’s good citizens were there to participate in the party. Mayor Al Murray and all the Council members made an appearance and the Tustin Chamber of Commerce was well represented. DCH was presented with the Acura Dealership of Distinction award for the 10th year in a row! An excellent record of fine service and community involvement. DCH is a great corporate participant in the fabric of Tustin. Other attendees included Police Chief Scott Jordan, Assemblywoman Diane Harkey, Tom Zieglar Chairman of the Tustin Public Schools Foundation, Archie Dove Chairman of the Tustin Community Foundation and TUSD Superintendent Dr. Gregory Franklin. All three of the local High Schools were represented with SADD members including Beckman, Tustin and Foothill. Thank you Dick Hsu!

Grand Opening of Assemblyman Don Wagners offices in Tustin

Tustin is the Heart of Orange County! Our former Council Member Jerry Amante used to make that statement part of every presentation he made. We won’t tell the whole head of the pin in the heart of the economy story, but Tustin proved it true again recently. Our Assemblyman, Donald Wagner, (the 68th District was recently carved out in the new District reorganization) chose Tustin to locate his District Headquarters. Why? Because we are worth it!

Assemblyman Wagner threw a party last week and everybody came! The party was to celebrate the Grand Opening of his new District Offices. His modest but nice offices are located on the corner of 17th Street and Prospect. Local restaurants pitched in and catered the event and all of the District had a really good time. The Chambers of Commerce of Anaheim, Irvine, Lake Forest, Orange, Orange County Hispanic and Tustin all participated. Many City officials and constituents of all persuasions attended. Leprechaun Leap 2013 – Too Much Fun!

The Tustin Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Leprechaun Leap took place on Saturday morning March 16th at the District. As you can see by the pictures it was a beautiful morning with no rain (yea) and everyone had a great time. Thanks go out to DeShaun Foster a former Tustin High football player who made his name at both UCLA and in the NFL playing for the Panthers and the 49′rs, who helped with the announcements. There are so many other people who took part in the event and gave graciously of their time and money that it would be a disservice to try a mention them all here and maybe miss someone. With that being said, Lisa Gross and Cindy Spindle of the Chamber office truly did an amazing job and the event would not have been as successful withthout their hard work and dedication. To all of the hundreds of other volunteers and Chamber Board members who worked on the event Thank YOU!

March Membership Breakfast

The Tustin Chamber’s monthly membership breakfast was held this morning (Wednesday March 13, 2013) at the Tustin Ranch Golf Club dining room. Another in a string of beautiful mornings in Tustin. Following our tradition, a Tustin Police Officer of the Month is honored. This month it was Police Officer Rene Barraza and a member of the elite K9 Corps, Bravo. It was interesting to see a dog that well trained in an environment like the dining room of a Country Club. Bravo behaved like the professional that he is!

Tustin Mayor Al Murray outlined his plans for the City of Tustin. There are lots of positives to look forward to according to our Mayor, promising some big announcements to come by the time of the State of the City address in June. The City of Tustin has succeeded in surviving the last few years with great success despite the economy because the City is well run and continues to exhibit conservative attitudes towards expenses and programs. The State of California would do well to pay attention!

Vantage Real Estate Gets a Ribbon Cutting!

Our friends at Vantage Real Estate Jeffrey Hakim, Chris Drzyzga, and Richard Sung were welcomed formally to the Tustin business community on Thursday. Their Ribbon Cutting was a very nice affair. Starting at 2:00 with catered appetizers and wine and beer the office was all cleaned up and shiny for the presentations. As the Chamber does at all Ribbon Cuttings, Vantage received certificates of recognition from elected officials from Congressman John Campbell on through the City of Tustin. Attendees were feted with food and drink and everyone participated in the Ribbon Cutting ceremony, see the pictures below.

February Mixer – Granada Plaza

The Tustin Chamber of Commerce has done it again! Another great mixer was well attended at the Granada Plaza. Arnel properties threw a great party with fantastic food, good sounds and the night was beautiful. The gracious members of the Chamber provided gifts including gift certificates to the Breakaway Sports Bar on Tustin Avenue, bottles of wine and a generous gift certificate to the Strauss Brewery (thank you David George of the Breakaway) and gift certificates to Nordstrom (thank you Arnel Properies). Council member John Nielsen was in attendance along with David Wilson Director of Parks and Recreation in Tustin and Ken Henderson Commissioner of Community Services. Check out the pictures!

February Membership Breakfast With D.A. Tony Ruckaukas

Our monthly membership breakfast this month featured Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas. He spoke about the proactive efforts he has made to combat the gang influence in Orange County areas. Providing phenomenal results his programs have provided neighborhoods with relief from gang bullying and violence. His basic message was that if the community gets involved, the gangs go away! Neighborhood watch programs work. People who care about their homes and parks make a difference.

While we in the Tustin Chamber always appreciate and honor our Police Officer of the Month, on the morning after the shoot out with Chris Doner there was a special attitude evident. Officers Ryan Coe and Bruce Williams were honored for solving a 20 year old cold case. Chief Jordan updated us on the latest regarding the Doner situation, it was very emotional for everyone. Attendance was on the rise and we even had to open up the room at Tustin Ranch Golf Course to allow for more tables. We look forward to seeing you all at the March breakfast and at the Leprechaun Leap 5K Race on March 16th. Check out the pictures from the breakfast.
