It’s amazing to me that it is April already! This year of fun in Tustin is flying by. My term will be up at the end of June and I want to go over some of the promises that I made to the members and the progress that we have made.
I promised to clean up the accounting for membership and to institute a new software system to keep our record keeping as close to perfect as we can. I didn’t do this myself, but with the help and many hours put in the office by Dan Trznadel (our CFO) and Cindy Spindle (our Office Manager) we have succeeded in that goal! Trish Throop and Sherri Munsey contributed to the effort as well.
I promised to start new traditions and events that would provide the Chamber with future growth and income opportunities in the years ahead. I believe we have accomplished that with the 1st annual Health Fair and Wellness Expo and the 1st annual Leprechaun Leap 5K St. Patrick’s Day race. Both events were successful and set the stage for future events to grow and provide Tustin with services and fun! These events would never have succeeded without the hard work and dedication of our Events Chair Tracy Zimmerman and the hands on work of Board Members Judy Mina and Kim Tucker. Rand Scherff and David Laughray, Scot Proud and Dan have all worked hard on these events as well. We are always well insured with the help of Jon Kimbrell.
The Governmental Affairs Council and the legislative subcommittee that make our voice heard in the local government community as well as the state wide legislative issues has been reconstituted thanks to the help of a new Board member, Bethelwel Wilson. B’well has done an outstanding job and we recently had our first GAC meeting of the year. Thanks B’well!
We continue to provide the Tustin Police Department with a monthly Police Officer of the Month award and to host events several times a month for both public networking, communication of events and just plain fun. I am proud of the hard work and dedication of the Board of Directors of the Tustin Chamber of Commerce and I look forward to helping Jonathan Stone continue our tradition when he takes the reigns in July.
Be sure to take a look at our package for a fun filled trip to Cannes France in November. The opportunity to travel safely with a group of people from Tustin is always a joy. Having been to China with a tour, I am looking forward to France! Come and join us. Have a happy Easter holiday season and I will be looking for you at our next breakfast, mixer or event.
